Hi, I’m Kathryn White and I am absolutely delighted to be joining Headway Somerset as the new CEO.
To tell you a little about myself, I have worked in the charity sector for over 25 years with a range of organisations including Mencap, Harrow Association of Disabled people, and the MS Society. Currently I am the Director of Innovation and Transformation at Ealing Mencap, a medium sized charity that provides a range of care and support services for disabled people and their families.
I am passionate about equality and throughout my life have championed the rights of people with long-term conditions and disabilities. I believe that everyone should be able to access to the right support when they need it, to enable them to enjoy a good quality of life regardless of their individual challenges and differences. It is not acceptable that too often people are left to cope by themselves, and I will be proud to lead Headway Somerset to help ensure that every person affected by acquired brain injury has access to support.
Apart from a brief time spent at Lancaster University gaining my degree in Psychology, I have always lived in Hertfordshire – commuting to London for work. My partner and I are really excited to be moving to Somerset to start a new phase of our life, with our cat Ivy and golf clubs in tow. I look forward to seeing you all soon.
