Project 2012 fundraising challenge with Clerksroom

Alison Mills & Stephen Ward

21 Club member’s, Clerksroom based at Taunton, have linked up with  Headway Somerset to create a novel scheme called  ‘Project 2012’  to help meet a funding gap of £20,000 following cuts from Somerset County Council. When Stephen Ward, their MD heard about the cut, he was keen to work with us to help meet the gap.

Help us raise £20k in 12 months by asking 200 businesses, clubs or individuals to sign up for £100 to join the special Project 2012’ website created and designed by Clerksroom’s web team.

“Our company are already involved as members of the charity’s ‘21 Club’, a corporate networking scheme with Headway Somerset.  I want to encourage smaller business, local groups and individuals to also get involved. Project 2012 seemed a simple solution.”

Stunning Artwork produced by brain injury survivors

A beautiful glass mosaic has recently been mounted inside Henton Village Hall, following months of patient, hard work by our clients and volunteers at our Brain Injury Outreach Unit at Henton, aided by members of the public during Brain Injury Awareness Week.

The colourful mosaic depicts the scenery of Mendip, including Glastonbury Tor and Wells Cathedral, together with wildlife found in this area.  Poetry written by the Headway clients runs through the artwork.

Headway Somerset meet on a Tuesday and Friday at the Henton village hall where clients  can choose from a wide range of activities designed to meet their individual rehabilitation needs following traumatic brain injury.

If you are interested in volunteering with Headway please call in on a Tuesday or Friday or contact Gill Bird on 01749 674010.

Tesco’s at Ilminster supports charity scheme

Tesco at Ilminster is the first organisation in the community to join ‘Project 2012’, a new scheme set up by us to help meet our fundraising target this coming year.

Nicky De’Ath, Tesco Community Champion presented the cheque to Headway Somerset at their Brain Injury Outreach Unit based at Yeovil and had a chance to meet clients, staff and volunteers to see first hand how their support will make a difference. She commented:  “We are really pleased to be able to help local brain injury survivors move forward with their lives.  It would be great for lots if individuals and companies to get involved with Project 2012. Seeing first hand as I did last week the service that Headway Somerset provides is absolutely fantastic.”

Hilary Dicks, one of our trustees and herself a mother of a son with brain injury received Tesco’s cheque added “Getting Tesco’s at Ilminster on board is very promising and demonstrates that local businesses can get involved with our work and help meet our £130,000 fundraising target for this year.”
